Vintage Glam
design by Susan WeisserThe starkness of a graphic silhouette is back in style --- in both fashion and home decor. This simple design demonstrates the dynamic power of color and shape.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
Design Master Sprays - COLORTOOL Sprays FLAT WHITE, OLIVE BRIGHT - white lotus bowl, 1/2 block lime green Oasis foam, 1 monstera leaf, 3 green cymbidiums, cardboard disc, 2 green chenille stems, Oasis floral adhesive
TECHNIQUE
- Spraying approximately 15" from the surface, color the large monstera leaf with Flat White. For a lacquered look apply 3 light coats, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
- Soak floral foam in water, cut to fit in bowl and trim to be flush with the top .
- Landscape the monstera leaf by laying it across the top of the foam.
- Spray both sides of a small cardboard disc with Olive Bright. Punch 2 holes in the center of the disc and thread with chenile stems.
- Construct a composite flower with petals of 2 orchids, keeping the orchid throats to the side. Radiating from the cardboard disc, adhere orchid petals with the floral adhesive. Apply a second overlapping layer of petals. Glue the remaining orchid in center of composite petals. Adhere the extra throats to center of flower.
- Place the composite cymbidium onto the leaf and pierce the leaf with ends of the chenille stem to insert into foam.
